Two advisors who left traditional firms to build something better.
We're a fee-only firm. That means we don't accept commissions or any revenue outside of the transparent annual fee we charge clients. We also adhere to a fiduciary duty at ALL times.
But here's what makes us different: we use a flat-fee model instead of the industry-standard percentage of assets.
Why? Because we don't believe you should pay more just because you have more. A larger portfolio doesn't always mean more work, time, or resources from the advisor, yet most firms charge exponentially more as your wealth grows.
The flat-fee structure removes a fundamental conflict: when your advisor's fee grows with your portfolio, subtle incentives emerge. Should you hold cash? Pay down debt? Take a distribution? Traditional fee structures can influence these recommendations, even subconsciously.
With a flat fee, those incentives disappear. You get advice that's not influenced by how we get paid.
Founder & Financial Advisor
Mark started Meredith Wealth Planning in 2019 after nearly 8 years as a financial planner at a community bank, where he was once named by Forbes as one of the top 1,000 advisors in America from the next generation.
But something didn't sit right with him: clients with larger portfolios were paying exponentially more in fees, even when they required the same, or sometimes less work than clients with smaller portfolios.
The traditional percentage-based fee model created subtle conflicts. Should a client pay off their mortgage? Should they hold cash for an upcoming expense? These decisions become muddied when an advisor's compensation depends on the answer.
So he left to build something better: a firm where the fee stays flat regardless of portfolio size, removing those incentives entirely and allowing advice to be truly objective.
Mark believes financial planning should be about you, your goals, your concerns, your unique situation. Not about maximizing assets under management or selling products with hidden commissions.
He's passionate about helping families understand exactly where they stand financially, using clear visual tools and plain language instead of industry jargon.
Mark lives in O'Fallon, IL with his wife and four children. When he's not working, you'll find him coaching his kids' sports teams, helping run the household, or planning the family's next adventure.
Lead Financial Advisor
Scott joined Meredith Wealth Planning in 2022 after years at a traditional AUM-based firm. He and Mark had discussed working together for years, united by a shared frustration: the industry's fee structures were incentivizing the wrong behaviors.
At his previous firm, Scott watched talented advisors give recommendations subtly influenced by how they got paid. Nothing illegal or unethical, just the natural result of a compensation model that grows when assets grow.
He wanted to work somewhere that put client interests first, without asterisks or fine print.
When Mark offered him the opportunity to become the lead advisor for new clients at Meredith Wealth Planning, the decision was easy.
Scott brings deep expertise in tax-efficient investing, portfolio construction, and comprehensive financial planning. His triple certification (CFA, CFP®, EA) means he can approach your finances from multiple angles: investment management, holistic planning, and tax strategy.
As lead advisor for new clients, Scott is often the first person you'll meet when you engage the firm. He conducts discovery calls, builds comprehensive financial plans, and serves as your primary point of contact.
Scott believes in evidence-based investing and transparency. No hot stock tips. No market timing. No hidden fees. Just disciplined, research-backed strategies designed for your specific goals.
Scott lives in Belleville, IL and enjoys golfing, working out, playing guitar, and cooking. He's also an avid learner, constantly reading the latest research on investing, tax strategy, and financial planning.
Families across the country trust us with their financial future.
Portfolios we manage using evidence-based strategies.
Virtual planning makes geography irrelevant.
Your interests come first, always, not just sometimes.
You'll typically meet with Scott first. He'll ask about your goals, concerns, and current situation. We'll explain our approach and answer all your questions. No sales pitch, just an honest conversation about whether we're the right fit.
We gather all your financial data and build a complete picture: assets, liabilities, income, expenses, taxes, insurance, estate planning. You'll see everything visualized clearly, often for the first time.
We present clear recommendations backed by research. Investment strategy, tax optimization, retirement projections, insurance needs, all explained in plain English. You'll understand not just what to do, but why.
Regular meetings, at least twice per year. Proactive adjustments as life changes. Unlimited email and phone access. Tax planning throughout the year. We're here for the long haul, for one transparent flat fee.
